Sigh. For the first time in more than 10yrs, I'm celebrating National Day at home. Due to my injury, I'm forced to stay at home. Usually if I am not a the stadium itself, my whole extended family would be at my auntie house at Kallang which is just a stone away from the stadium. Tt way, we could have a family gathering and also enjoy the view of the fireworks at the comfort of our home. This yr however, they came to my house instead, partly to visit me too =D
This yr also marks the first time I didnt celebrate the nation birthday at sch. Though some students will take this opportunity to skip sch, I've always make the effort to come sch on this day. Partly bcos I cld sing the national anthem with joy and pride with those around me. And also to witness the sch parade. This does not include JC life though. The parade here is almost non-existent =s Even the Pri sch have a better parade than ours. I miss the sec sch parade though. The time spent perfecting our drills under the hot sun. Wearing the 1st uni when being the GOH. It came with a huge price though. My sch had to forfeit an appearance at the actual NDP parade bcos of those privileges. But still, it was worth it. Having the whole of Clementi Stadium as our parade ground and having more than 1500 ppl watching us. Holding the Sword of Ceremony in your hand. The feeling is just uncomparable... Maybe I'll have a chance to participate in the actual parade during my NS year? I really hope so.
This yr parade is kinda funny, with them running in instead of the usual march. I think I prefer the traditional parade. Some of the song sang was lip-synching and there was even the LOTR theme song being play during the tribute session. I expected a more original and vibrant song considering it was the last time the celebration is being held at the Kallang stadium. Overall, last yr celebration is much better than this yr. This yr is a little mundane. Haha. Maybe it's bcos last yr, I was part of the celebration at JE =P...Happy National Day ppl...and Happy 41st birthday Singapore...May you enjoy immortality =P...ciao
